Halloween Happenings...

WebMaster — Sat, 10/22/2011 - 11:34

It’s that time of year again – if you have kids it’s the beginning of the sugar season – Halloween! If you don’t have kids – it’s your opportunity to be one for a night (or two!)

You’ve got your costume(s) – one for work, one for play. Are YOU throwing the party this year? Well you have FOUR dates to choose from – what will you
MUSIC: While you want your party to be FUN – you also need some fun/unusual/creative Halloween songs as well. They don’t all need to be dance songs either – have some weaved into the party before it kicks off. You don’t necessarily need the Monster Mash (although, really, you only hear it once a year! A good DJ will have a remix J) but there are several others you could consider adding to your request
Dead Man’s Party – Oingo Boingo - (Pop Rock)
Thriller – Michael Jackson (Lots of remixes of this classic track!)
            Creep – Radiohead - (Alternative)
Black Cat – Janet Jackson - (R&B, Dance)
Werewolves of London – Warren Zevon -(Rock)
Everyday is Halloween – Ministry - (Alternative Dance)
Dragula – Rob Zombie - (Rock)
Purple People Eater – Sheb Woolly (Rock)
            Adams Family Theme
PARTY IDEAS:  Everyone has a Halloween Party – but it’s much more fun to select some specifics for it. What about a specific Halloween theme? If it’s for younger kids, have them all be circus or Disney characters. For adults & teens you could have a theme of Mummy’s, Zombies or a Horror Movie character. (Be advised, if there are kids, you may want to consider how scary the costumes are.) Another idea is to theme the party with a location & match the costumes to it:: i.e. Things you would find in a graveyard, Space Travel or even Halloween Cartoons (Peanuts, The Simpson’s, etc)
DÉCOR: Well, Orange & Black! But you can add all sorts of effects: Glow in the Dark spider webs, bats, black cats, scary figures. Talk to your DJ and make sure they have a blacklight for the dance area or a strobe light. This can enhance the effect of all those themed decorations. One note: buy EARLY before the 20th if you can to ensure best selection at your local Halloween themed shop!
ACTIVITIES: THIS will set your party apart from the ‘other’ parties. Work with your entertainer to ensure you have offerings people will remember. Our activites can be modiied for adult audiences or kids / teens. Just ask!
“Stringy Donut” eating contest. You’ll need a dozen donuts, string to suspend donuts 5 feet in the air, blindfolds for contestants, can of whipped cream and a drop cloth. The blindfolded guests are to eat the donut off the string but before they begin you spread out the dropcloth and douse the donuts with additives. Try using a different one for each donut.
“Scary Songs Name That Tune” Just like the game show, contestants are read a clue, they bid how many seconds it’ll take for them to guess it. Each correct answer nets them a raffle ticket, piece of candy, etc. Play to a specific point total or against a clock.
“Bobbing for ?” A vat of DARK water (use food coloring). The player is bobbing for – your choice – apples, pickles, ice cubes – get creative!
“Mummy Wrap” All you need is a case of Toilet Paper, a chair for each player (optional), some decorations, markers or other add-ons. Each participant gets to pick their ‘team’. The ‘team’ wraps up the captain, decorate them then the winner is awarded a prize.
Take pictures of all this, put ‘em on your Facebook page and brag that you had THE party to be at this Halloween! Need entertainment? Give us a call – EARLY as there are four possible dates this year to have a Halloween Happening!
             Until the “Next Event”.
